Sir: Bravo to John Stone (November 2017) for his concise summary of government failures in Aboriginal policy. Three further points. First, if Canberra is about to launch some new and even larger disaster on behalf of Aborigines, isn’t it about time to define who exactly we are supposed to be benefiting? The current definition of an Aborigine, insofar as we have one, is anybody who is accepted by other Aborigines as an Aborigine. Not only vague, but wide open to abuse.
