Deeply UNpalatable

UN logoOne doesn’t like to be down in the mouth, but there seems precious little to inspire a smile just at the moment. Here in Australia we have a government still reeling from its close call at the last election and seemingly incapable of tapping the conservative principles to which it is nominally pledged. Doubt that? Just tune to the ABC and note that it remains a bastion of luvviedom, with no effort whatsoever having been made to see that the national broadcaster conforms to its charter.

In the US, voters will soon decide if what once was known as the Free World is to be led by a woman who has failed at every endeavour — from reforming US health care to foreign policy — or a protectionist better suited to a reality TV show than the Oval Office.
